چکیده

cilia. At E9.5, B9D1 is expressed throughout the spinal cord, limb bubs, and, bronchial arches; tissues that required Shh signal for proper development. To further understand its molecular mechanism, we sought out other interacting proteins using tandem IP followed by mass spec analysis. A protein complex is identified and one of them was a transmembrane protein BCAP1 (B9 Complex Associated Protein 1). KO mice for BCAP1 was made and analyzed. BCAP1 KO mice were embryonic lethal at E15.5. Analysis of the BCAP1 KO embryos showed that the phenotypes are consistent with defect in Shh signaling such as polydactyly and microopthalmia. Further analysis is carried out to determine the exact role of this protein complex in Shh signaling.

The role of nitric oxide during embryonic epidermis development of Xenopus laevis

Nitric oxide (NO) is a potent radical molecule that participates in various biological processes such as vasodilation, cell proliferation, immune response and neurotransmission. NO mainly activates soluble guanylate cyclase, leading to cGMP production and activation of protein kinase G and its downstream targets. Here we report the essential role of NO during embryonic epidermis development. Xe...

Acquisition of glial cells missing 2 Enhancers Contributes to a Diversity of Ionocytes in Zebrafish

Glial cells missing 2 (gcm2) encoding a GCM-motif transcription factor is expressed in the parathyroid in amniotes. In contrast, gcm2 is expressed in pharyngeal pouches (a homologous site of the parathyroid), gills, and H(+)-ATPase-rich cells (HRCs), a subset of ionocytes on the skin surface of the teleost fish zebrafish. Ionocytes are specialized cells that are involved in osmotic homeostasis ...

A secretory cell type develops alongside multiciliated cells, ionocytes and goblet cells, and provides a protective, anti-infective function in the frog embryonic mucociliary epidermis

The larval epidermis of Xenopus is a bilayered epithelium, which is an excellent model system for the study of the development and function of mucosal and mucociliary epithelia. Goblet cells develop in the outer layer while multiciliated cells and ionocytes sequentially intercalate from the inner to the outer layer. Here, we identify and characterise a fourth cell type, the small secretory cell...

A Positive Regulatory Loop between foxi3a and foxi3b Is Essential for Specification and Differentiation of Zebrafish Epidermal Ionocytes

BACKGROUND Epidermal ionocytes play essential roles in the transepithelial transportation of ions, water, and acid-base balance in fish embryos before their branchial counterparts are fully functional. However, the mechanism controlling epidermal ionocyte specification and differentiation remains unknown. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In zebrafish, we demonstrated that Delta-Notch-mediated l...

Development of zebrafish epidermis.

Zebrafish epidermal ionocytes are analogous to mammalian kidney cells in terms of expression and function of ion transporters. In this review, we summarize current findings about the development of the zebrafish epidermis and demonstrate how the zebrafish regulate stress acclimation through induction of cell differentiation. In addition, cellular homologies between zebrafish epidermal ionocytes...
